Advanced Placement

The Advanced Placement Program, administered by The College Board, allows students to participate in college-level courses and possibly earn college credit while still in high school. Secondary schools and colleges cooperate in this program to give students the opportunity to show mastery in college-level courses by taking the AP exam in May of each school year.

Through college-level AP courses, you enter a universe of knowledge that might otherwise remain unexplored in high school; through AP Exams, you have the opportunity to earn credit or advanced standing at many of the nation's colleges and universities.

To determine whether or not you should take an examination, do the following now:

  • Consult with your teacher.
  • Find out about AP credit or advance standing policies at the college/university of your choice by checking the website or by calling the admissions office.

The 2026 AP examinations will be given Monday, May 4, 2026, through Friday, May 15, 2026. You are not considered absent from class during the time you are taking these exams.
