Message from Principal

May, 2013

The month of May is a very busy time for all our students.  Spring season athletics are in full swing.  This week the weather is uncooperative, so pay attention to the website for daily updates.  Our Art Show and Choir Show are welcome events this week.  Our talented students deserve the accolades they get for their stupendous performances on canvas as well as on the stage.  May brings many such performances all the way through the last week of the month.  Whether you enjoy instrumental or vocal performances, most of our ensembles will treat you with the wonderful skills and abilities of our students.

May begins a series of events and opportunities for the senior class concluding with the Commencement Ceremony on May 31st.  While this is a very exciting time for seniors, it is important to remind them that their activities should be safe and alcohol/drug free.  In addition, we need them to attend school daily through May 29th.  Each year we are forced to discipline a few members of the senior class for a poor decision or foolish act gone wrong.  It is not our desire to have our seniors experience such discipline; however we will continue to have high expectations for the behavior and academic performance of each and every member of the senior class through the last words of the Commencement Ceremony.

That being said, we hope all our seniors enjoy their final month at South High School and finish with the same pride and class they have shown during the past four years.  It has been a pleasure watching them grow, develop as students and mature as young adults.  I am looking forward to watching them symbolically move on during their Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 31.

This school year officially ends for all our underclass students with the last final examination on May 31. It is important that each finishes strongly and leaves our halls knowing they did their absolute best all the way through exams on May 29, 30 and 31.  Then, it will be time to rest and re-energize for the coming school year, which begins with the first day of classes on August 28th.

Congratulations to all our students, faculty and staff for an outstanding school year!  Enjoy the summer break.

Sincerely,

Stephan L. Bild
