SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

The Library will be closed for AP Testing from Monday, May 7 through Thursday, May 17th.

During these 2 weeks, the only times students will be able to access the library will be:

After school on Tuesday 5/8; Wednesday 5/9; Thursday 5/10 from 3:20-4:30

And Before school on Wednesday 5/16; Thursday 5/17 from 7:00-7:55

The library will resume a regular schedule on Friday, 5/18.

There will be a bin by the front entrance of the library for students and staff to return books during this time.

 

Attention all students:  The Mustang Way store will be open this Thursday.  This week the special raffles are for yearbooks and summer reading books.  If you have not purchased your yearbook yet and would like to try to win one, or you would like to try to get a summer reading book for free, stop by the table this week with your stamps.  If you are a junior and are saving to enter the parking spot raffle, it will take place on the 24th.  Any student saving for other items such as spirit wear may stop by for details on how to redeem those stamps on either date. 

What’s black and white and red and orange and yellow and green and blue and purple and magenta and turquoise and navy and lots of other colors all over?  The all-color 2012 yearbook!  Time is running out!  The deadline to order your copy is this Friday, May 11th.  The cost of the yearbook is $45.  Stop by the student activities office to place your order, or order online using the link from the Activities section of the school website.  Online orders require credit card payment. 

Supplies are limited, so order today and ensure you have your yearbook in time to get it signed the last week of school! 

Students who have ordered a yearbook by May 11th may pick it up after school on Wednesday, May 23rd.  Students who have not pre-ordered a yearbook by May 11th but would like one may purchase a copy starting Friday, May 25th, if extra copies of the yearbook remain.

COLLEGE & CAREER

Cosmetology students from the Technology Center of DuPage (TCD) will be offering free manicures after school on Thursday, May 10th and Monday, May 14th, in the cafeteria.

 

A representative from Pivot Point Beauty Academy will be here on Friday, May 11th.  If you are interested in attending this presentation, you must sign up on the Naviance program.

 

CLUBS / ACTIVITIES

 

Hey Mustang Fans, come out and support the Boys Volleyball team as they take on Lake Park tomorrow night at 6pm! WEAR YOUR NEON!! Then join us in BLUE ON BLUE for the Boys Track Conference Meet Friday at 4pm and the Bilingual Dinner Dance at 7pm!!”

 

Poetry Café and Open Mic:  May’s Poetry Café has moved from Wednesday, May 9 to Wednesday, May 23.  It is officially BRING A BUDDY TO POETRY CAFÉ DAY.  Any new audience member will receive a fabulous, fantastic, fresh prize.  (AKA We’re making trips to Five Below!  Or maybe Dollar General…)  FREE CAKE!

 

Are you interested in learning how to stay motivated during difficult times?  Are you interested in learning how to achieve your full potential? If you answered yes, please sign up for the Hispanic Student Leadership Workshop on Friday, May 11 during 7th and 8th period! Don’t miss out on this once in a life time experience to hear Andres Lara, otherwise known as the CUBAN GUY speak at the Hispanic Student Workshop. The Cuban Guy is a national speaker and author of How to Stay Motivated During Difficult Timesas well as other famous book titles. If you need service hours or would like to help out in the community, Noah’s Hope Foundation’s 2012 RUN FOR HOPE, will be held on May 20th, on the streets of Downers Grove around the O’Neill Middle School neighborhood.  Seven year-old Noah and his six year-old sister, Laine, are battling a rare genetic illness that has ruthlessly robbed them of their speech, balance, and mobility.  Help is needed with Set-Up/Tear Down, Registration & Packet Pick-Up, Course Marshalls, Water Station, Refreshment Distribution, Greeting, and Timing.  Volunteers will meet at 6:15 a.m. on the grounds of the Downers Grove Swim and Racquet Club and be finished by by 11:00 a.m.  Get contact information from the bulletin board outside Student Activities (C149).  (Bruns, DellaMaria)
